I got thrown into this project two days after I joined the school program, so it was really interesting and challenging at the same time.
We spent 5 wonderful weeks together on this game project! We are really proud of it!
In a world dominated by The Imperium, a shadowy organization weaving the fabric of destinies with a relentless grip, we follow the compelling journey of Asuna, a young woman whose life has been entangled in a web of deception and intrigue. Adopted by The Imperium in her early years, Asuna was groomed to be a faithful operative, blissfully unaware of her true parentage.
As Asuna evolves into a proficient agent, she is handed a mission that shatters her reality – eliminate a mysterious rebel leader posing a threat to The Imperium's supremacy. Unbeknownst to Asuna, the target is her own estranged mother, a fact obscured by The Imperium to ensure her unwavering allegiance.
Confronted with the shocking revelation of her mother's identity, Asuna grapples with conflicting loyalties tearing at her soul. The Imperium, once her guiding light, now stands as the architect of her deceit, while her newfound mother embodies the rebellion seeking to dismantle the oppressive regime.
Fueled by a quest for truth and justice, Asuna makes a life-altering decision to defy The Imperium. Turning her back on the only family she has ever known, she allies herself with the rebels, determined to unveil the corruption that has shaped her existence. The journey becomes a perilous exploration of her identity, love, and the harsh realities of a world teetering on the brink of revolution.
As Asuna delves deeper into the rebellion, she unravels the intricate threads of conspiracy woven by The Imperium. Every step brings her closer to the mastermind behind her upbringing, forcing her to confront a moral quandary: fulfill the mission she was trained for and eliminate her mother, or forsake her allegiance to The Imperium and stand alongside her in the battle against tyranny.
"Midnight Nexus" is a riveting tale of self-discovery, rebellion, and the enduring power of maternal bonds in the face of a formidable, oppressive force. Asuna's choices will not only define her destiny but also determine the fate of a world yearning for liberation from the shadows of an authoritarian regime.

As a programmer, I had the chance to dive into some of the most exciting gameplay mechanics. I worked hard to develop super smooth and responsive player controls, making sure every move feels natural and intuitive. I added a chest with random drops, adding that thrilling element of surprise—because who doesn’t love finding unexpected treasures? :) I also created a shield ability that gives players a strategic edge in combat. And to top it off, I designed a poster-collecting quest that encourages players to explore and engage with every corner of the game world. This quest was supposed to lead to a secret hangar level, but we didn’t have time to implement it. It’s still in the game, just... hidden.
Switching over to my role as a Level Designer, I had a blast creating the game world. I crafted rich, immersive environments that draw players in and keep them captivated. One of my favorite projects was designing an epic boss fight area. I made sure it’s not just challenging but also visually pleasing, providing a memorable blend of fun and excitement. For the adventurers out there, I built a secret hangar level filled with enemies, a perfect reward for those who love to explore and uncover secrets, complete with a big reward in the form of a new ability.
Another big part of my job was creating the UI. I worked on everything from the menu and how-to-play sections to gameplay UI elements like HP and EX bars and abilities. It was an area I had never explored before, so it was really interesting and fun to learn how those elements are created.
Detailing the world with assets was another key part of my job. I placed textures, models, and effects to ensure every area looked vibrant and alive. From lush trash cans to eerie small alleys, I made sure each setting is packed with visual details that enhance the atmosphere and storytelling.
In a nutshell, juggling both roles allowed me to infuse the game with dynamic mechanics and cool visuals. I ensured the gameplay is not just fun and engaging, but also visually appealing, keeping players hooked from start to finish. Creating this game was an incredible journey, and we poured our hearts and souls into it, all while I was trying to catch up with everyone else.
